Shaving the beard is an alteration of Allah’s creation.

Allah, Exalted is He, says: “There is to be no alteration in Allah’s creation.” Exegetes have remarked that although phrased as a statement, it carries the sense of a directive: do not tamper with Allah’s creation or with the form upon which He originated you—namely, the recognition of Allah, His oneness, and the attendant traits of the fitrah.

He, Most High, also says, conveying Satan’s words: “I will command them, and they will surely alter Allah’s creation” (al-Nisaʾ 4:119).

This is an explicit proof that altering Allah’s creation without permission from the Sacred Law (1) is obedience to Satan and disobedience to the All-Merciful.

Perhaps the same idea is alluded to in His words: “and He fashioned you and perfected your forms …” (al-Taghabun 64:3).

(1) Not every alteration counts as tampering with the creation of Allah. The Lawgiver has actually permitted—indeed at times required or encouraged—certain changes, such as halq al-ra’s (shaving the head) on leaving the state of ihram (pilgrimage consecration), removing the pubic and underarm hair, khitan (circumcision), qas al-azfar (trimming the nails), and the like. These divinely prescribed alterations are not among the blameworthy forms of change. And Allah knows best.

حلق اللحية تغيير لخلق الله سبحانه قال تعالى: ﴿لَا تَبْدِيلَ لِخَلْقِ اللَّهِ﴾ قيل في تفسيرها: هي خبر بمعنى الطلب، أي لا تغيروا خلق الله، والهيئة التي فطركم عليها، وهي معرفة الله وتوحيده، وتوابع ذلك من خصال الفطرة. وقال تعالى حاكيا عن إبليس قوله: ﴿وَلَآمُرَنَّهُمْ فَلَيُغَيِّرُنَّ خَلْقَ اللَّهِ﴾. [النساء:١١٩] وهذا نص صريح في أن تغيير خلق الله ﷿ بدون إذن من الشرع (١) إطاعة لأمر الشيطان، وعصيان للرحمن ﷻ. ولعل في قوله تعالى: ﴿وَصَوَّرَكُمْ فَأَحْسَنَ صُوَرَكُمْ﴾ الآية [التغابن:٣]

(١) إذ ليس كل تغيير يعد تغييرا لخلق الله، فإن هناك تغييرا أذن فيه الشارع بل أوجبه أو استحبه (كحلق الرأس عند التحلل من الإحرام، وإزالة شعر العانة والإبط، والختان، وقص الأظفار، ... إلخ)، فالتغيير الذي تعبَّدَنا الله به ليس من التغيير المذموم، والله تعالى أعلم.
