Musa ibn Isma‘il narrated to us; al-Sabbaḥ al-‘Abdī narrated to us; ‘Ubayd Allah ibn Sulayman informed us: I asked Sa‘id ibn al-Musayyib about commissioning the writing of a Qur’an codex. He replied, “There is no harm in it; the young man in Ibn ‘Abbas’s service used to copy them for one hundred (dirhams).”
