Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn Sabbāḥ narrated to us; Saʿīd ibn Sulaymān narrated to us; Yūnus ibn Bukayr narrated to us; Khālid ibn Dīnār narrated to us; ʿUmārah ibn Juwayn narrated to us; Abū Saʿīd—may Allah be pleased with him—said:

The Prophet ﷺ said, “O Ashaj, you possess two qualities that Allah loves: al-ḥilm (forbearance) and al-tuʾada (deliberate calm).”

Ashaj asked, “Messenger of Allah, are these traits part of my original nature, or are they something recent?”

The Prophet ﷺ replied, “Rather, they are part of your original nature.”
