Musaddad narrated to us; Yahya narrated to us, from Ibn ʿAjlān. ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb narrated to me, from his father, from his grandfather, who said:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “When any of you comes into possession of a wife, a female servant, a mount, or a servant-boy, let him say:
‘I ask You for the goodness that is in her and the goodness for which she was fashioned, and I seek refuge in You from her evil and the evil for which she was fashioned.’”
Abū ʿAbd Allāh remarked: ʿUbayd Allāh also related it from Sufyān, from Ibn ʿAjlān, from ʿAmr with similar wording.
