Muhammad ibn Saʿid narrated to us; ʿUbaydah ibn Ḥumayd informed us; from ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr; from ʿUthman ibn Abi Ḥathmah; from his grandmother al-Shifāʾ—may Allah be pleased with her—who said: I heard the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—when a man asked him, “Which deed is most excellent?” He replied, “Faith in Allah, jihad in His cause, and a ḥajj mabroor—an accepted pilgrimage.”
