Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah narrated to us; al-Walid—whom I take to be Ibn Abi Thawr—narrated to us (Muhammad ibn Yusuf al-Firabri said: the doubt is mine); from ʿAbd al-Malik, that is Ibn ʿUmayr; from Musa ibn Talhah; from ʿAishah bint Talhah; from ʿAishah, Mother of the Believers—may Allah be pleased with her—who said:
A man came to the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—and asked, “Which deeds are most excellent?” He replied, “Faith in Allah, jihad in His cause, and a ḥajj mabroor—an accepted pilgrimage.”
