Abū Nuʿaym narrated to us; Sufyān narrated to us, from Ziyād ibn Ismāʿīl al-Qurashī, from Muḥammad ibn ʿAbbād ibn Jaʿfar al-Makhzūmī, from Abū Hurayra رضي الله عنه, who said: “The idolaters of Quraysh came to the Prophet ﷺ and disputed with him about qadar (divine decree). Then the verse was revealed: ‘Indeed, We have created everything according to a determined measure’ (al-Qamar 54:49).”

Qabīṣa also narrated to us, and Sufyān transmitted the same report with this chain.
