ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad narrated to us; Sufyān narrated; I heard Sulaymān ibn Abī Muslim, from Ṭāwūs, from Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
When the Prophet ﷺ arose in the night to perform voluntary prayer, he would say:
“O Allah, all praise is Yours. You are the Light of the heavens and the earth and all who dwell therein. All praise is Yours; You are the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all who dwell therein. All praise is Yours; You are the Truth, Your promise is truth, Your word is truth, meeting You is truth, Paradise is truth, Hellfire is truth, the Hour is truth, the prophets are truth, and Muhammad is truth.
O Allah, to You I have surrendered; upon You I rely; in You I believe; to You I turn in repentance; by Your help I contend; and to You I submit for judgment. So forgive me for what I have done before and what I will do later, what I have kept hidden and what I have made public. You are the One who brings forward and the One who defers; there is no god but You.”
Here ends the Book on the Creation of Human Actions and the Refutation of the Jahmiyyah and the Negators, composed by the Imam of the Imams, Abū ʿAbd Allāh Muḥammad ibn Ismāʿīl al-Bukhārī—may Allah the Exalted have mercy upon him.
