ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yazīd narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ziyād narrated to us; Dukhayn al-Ḥajarī narrated from ʿUqbah ibn ʿĀmir (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet ﷺ:
“The disbeliever will say, ‘The believers have already found someone to intercede for them, so who will intercede for us? None but Iblīs—he is the one who led us astray.’ They will then go to Iblīs and say, ‘The believers have found someone to intercede for them.’ After that the disbelievers will say, ‘So get up and intercede for us, for you are the one who misguided us.’ Thereupon his entire assembly will erupt with a stench the like of which no one has ever smelled—so foul that he will puff himself up for Jahannam. Then, once the matter is settled, the Devil will say:
‘Indeed Allah promised you the promise of truth, whereas I promised you and betrayed you’ (Q 14:22).
The Prophet ﷺ also spoke of the recitation of the hypocrites and the wicked, clarifying how they earn their livelihood through that recitation. Therefore, let no one entertain the slightest doubt about the disposition and deeds of the hypocrites—the companions of the Blaze.”
