Chapter: Allah—exalted be His remembrance—speaks of the dwellers of Hell among the unbelievers, the polytheists, and the idol-worshippers: “They will cry, ‘O Malik! Let your Lord put an end to us!’” (Q 43:77); and His words: “Our Lord, bring us out of this; and if we should return [to sin], then indeed we would be wrongdoers.” (Q 23:107); and His words: “And Satan will say, once the matter is decided, ‘Indeed, Allah promised you the promise of truth; I too promised you, but I betrayed you.’” (Q 14:22); and the words of the hypocrites: “Wait for us, that we may glean some of your light.” (Q 57:13).
