ʿUmar ibn Ḥafṣ ibn Ghiyāth narrated to us; my father related to us; al-Aʿmash narrated from Abū Ṣāliḥ, from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:
The Prophet ﷺ said: “On the Day of Resurrection Allah will announce, ‘O Adam!’ He will reply, ‘At Your service, our Lord, and every good is in Your Hands.’ Then a voice will call out, ‘Allah commands you to set apart from your descendants a contingent for the Fire.’ Adam will ask, ‘My Lord, what is that contingent for the Fire?’ He will answer, ‘From every thousand’—and I believe he said—‘nine hundred and ninety-nine.’ At that moment every pregnant woman will miscarry, and ‘you will see the people appearing drunk, yet they are not drunk; but the punishment of Allah is severe’ (Q 22:2).”
