Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥīm narrated to us—Saʿīd ibn al-Rabīʿ reported to us—Shuʿbah reported to us, from Qatādah, from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet ﷺ, conveying it from his Lord, said:

“If the servant draws near to Me by a handspan, I draw near to him by an arm’s length; if he draws near to Me by an arm’s length, I draw near to him by a fathom; and if he comes to Me walking, I come to him rushing.”
