Khalq Afal al-Ibad lil-BukhariAl-Bukhari

Abu al-Yaman narrated to us; Shuʿayb related to us; from al-Zuhri; who said: ʿUbayd Allah ibn ʿAbd Allah informed me, from Ibn ʿAbbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said:

“O community of Muslims! How can you ask the People of the Scripture about anything when your own Book—which Allah has sent down to your Prophet ﷺ—is the latest revelation, conveying pure information about Allah, completely untainted? Allah has already told you that the People of the Scripture altered the Book of Allah, changed it, and wrote scripture with their own hands, saying, ‘This is from Allah,’ so that they might barter it for a paltry price. Does not the knowledge that has reached you forbid you from questioning them? By Allah, we have never seen a single one of them asking you about what has been sent down to you.”

Abu ʿAbd Allah added: This narration was also transmitted by Yunus, Maʿmar, and Ibrahim ibn Saʿd, from al-Zuhri.
