Yahya narrated to us; Wakiʿ related to us; from Sufyan; from ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn ʿAlqamah; from Ibn ʿAbbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning the verse, “So woe to those who write the Scripture with their own hands” (al-Baqarah 2:79). He said, “It was revealed about the People of the Scripture.”
