Abu Ghassān narrated to us; Zuhayr narrated; al-Aswad ibn Qays narrated; Thaʿlabah ibn ʿAbbād—one of the people of Basra—related to me that he had attended a sermon delivered by Samurah ibn Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him). He said:

“We happened to be with the Prophet ﷺ when he came out to the people, led the prayer, and spoke about the eclipse. He then said, ‘I am but a human messenger, and I remind you by Allah: if you know that I have fallen short in conveying any part of my Lord’s messages…’

They replied, ‘We testify that you have indeed conveyed your Lord’s messages and fulfilled what was required of you.’”
