ʿAmr ibn Zurarah narrated to us; Ziyād narrated; Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq narrated; the client (mawlā) of the household of Zayd ibn Thābit narrated to us, transmitting from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, from ʿIkrimah, the client of Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ declared, “I have not come to you in pursuit of your wealth or your prestige. Rather, Allah has sent me to you as a messenger, revealed a Book to me, and commanded me to serve as a bearer of glad tidings and a warner. I have conveyed to you my Lord’s message and offered you sincere counsel. If you accept what I have brought, it will be a boon for you in this world and the Hereafter; but if you reject it, I will endure in patience with whatever Allah decrees until He judges between me and you.”
