Mūsa ibn Ismāʿīl narrated to us; Sufyān ibn Nashīṭ narrated; ʿAbd al-Karīm—from the clan of ʿAqīl—told me:
“When Yazīd ibn al-Muhallab arrived, I went out and, as we passed by al-Zujayj, we came upon an elderly man who said, ‘I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the Farewell Pilgrimage while I was beneath the halter of his she-camel. He proclaimed:
“People! Do you know what month this is? It is a sacred month, in a sacred land, on a sacred day. Be aware that your lives, your wealth, and your honour are inviolable among you, as inviolable as this day of yours, until the day you meet Him. O Allah, bear witness! O Allah, bear witness! O Allah, bear witness!’
He repeated it three times and then said, ‘So let the one who is present convey it to the one who is absent.’”
That elderly man was al-ʿAddāʾ ibn Khālid al-ʿĀmirī (may Allah be pleased with him).
Abū Maʿmar narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Wārith narrated; ʿUtbah ibn ʿAbd al-Malik al-Sahmī narrated, saying: Zurārah ibn Karīm ibn Ḥārith ibn ʿAmr al-Sahmī told me that Ḥārith ibn ʿAmr al-Sahmī told him, “I brought this message to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, ‘Let the witness convey it to the absent.’” ⦗91⦘
Makkī ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us; Bahz ibn Ḥakīm—through his father and grandfather—reported from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: “Let those of you who are present convey it to those who are absent.”
