ʿAli related—on the authority of Muḥammad ibn Bishr, who said: Shuʿayb ibn Abī Ḥamzah narrated to us, from Abū Maʿshar, from al-Shaʿbī, from Masrūq, from ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her)—that she said:
“Whoever claims that Muḥammad withheld anything of the revelation has uttered a monstrous lie against Allah.”
Allah the Exalted says, “Convey what has been sent down to you from your Lord; if you do not, you will not have conveyed His message” (5:67).
Salih said, “My people, I have indeed conveyed to you the message of my Lord” (7:79).
Shuʿayb said, “I have conveyed to you the messages of my Lord” (7:93).
And the Most High says, “So that He may know that they have conveyed the messages of their Lord” (72:28).
Thus He clarified that the message originates from Allah, while its conveyance lies with the messengers.
