Musa ibn Mas‘ud narrated to me; Sufyan ibn Sa‘id narrated to us; from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn ‘Abis; some of the companions of ‘Abd Allah narrated to me, from ‘Abd Allah—may Allah be pleased with him—who said: “The most truthful speech is the speech of Allah.”
Abu Bakr al-Siddiq—may Allah be pleased with him—reported from the Prophet ﷺ, in the context of the discussion about intercession, that he said: “Noah will say, ‘Go to Abraham, for Allah took him as an intimate friend.’ They will go to Abraham, and he will say, ‘Go to Moses, for Allah spoke to him directly.’”
Abu Hurayra and Ibn ‘Umar—may Allah be pleased with them both—narrated from the Prophet ﷺ: “Allah chose Moses with His speech and His messages.”
‘Adiyy ibn Hatim—may Allah be pleased with him—related that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “There is none among you but that his Lord will speak to him, with no interpreter between them. He will look to his right and see nothing but the deeds he sent ahead; he will look to his left and see nothing but what he sent ahead; he will look in front of him and behold only the Fire facing him. So shield yourselves from the Fire, even if only with half a date, and even with a kind word.”
Jabir ibn ‘Abd Allah—may Allah be pleased with him—reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: “Shall I give you the glad tidings of what happened to your father? Allah spoke to your father without any veil and said to him, ‘My servant, ask of Me.’ He replied, ‘My Lord, send me back to the world so that I may be killed in Your cause again.’ Allah said, ‘I have decreed that they shall not return.’ He said, ‘My Lord, then convey the news to them on our behalf.’ So Allah revealed: ‘Do not think of those who are killed in the path of Allah as dead; rather, they are alive with their Lord, provided for.’ (Qur’an 3:169).”
Abu ‘Abd Allah added: “He was ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Amr ibn Haram, who was martyred on the day of Uhud.”
Jubayr ibn Mut‘im reported from the Prophet ﷺ: “Indeed, Allah is upon His Throne above His heavens, and His heavens are above His earths like a dome.”
