Ahmad ibn Khalid narrated to us—through Ibn Ishaq, from Nafiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them both)—who said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade taking a mushaf, a written copy of the Quran, on a journey into enemy territory.”
Abu ʿAbd Allah added: “Muhammad ibn Bishr corroborated this report through ʿUbayd Allah, from Nafiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them both), traced back to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).”
Ibn Masʿud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “I have listened to the reciters and found their readings close to one another, so recite as you have been taught.”
