Khalq Afal al-Ibad lil-BukhariAl-Bukhari

Muhammad ibn Kathir narrated to us; Israel narrated to us; ʿUthman ibn al-Mughira narrated, from Salim, from Jabir—may Allah be pleased with him—who said:

The Prophet ﷺ would present himself at the standing place (al-mawqif) and proclaim, “Is there any man who will take me to his people? Quraysh have prevented me from conveying the words of my Lord.”

Anas ibn Malik—may Allah be pleased with him—said:

When the Prophet ﷺ was taken on the Night Journey from the Mosque of the Kaʿbah, he found Moses in the seventh heaven, distinguished because of the favor of hearing Allah’s speech.

Abu Dharr—may Allah be pleased with him—reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, quoting Allah, Blessed and Exalted:

“My giving is but a word, and My punishment is a word; when I will a matter, I merely say to it, ‘Be,’ and it is.”

ʿAbd Allah ibn Unays—may Allah be pleased with him—said:

I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: “Allah will gather the servants on the Day of Resurrection and will call out to them with a voice that is heard by those far away just as it is heard by those who are near: ‘I am the King, I am the Judge. None of the people of Paradise may enter Paradise while anyone from the people of Hell is still seeking redress from him for a wrong.’”

Abu Hurayra—may Allah be pleased with him—reported from the Prophet ﷺ:

“When Allah decrees a matter in the heaven, the angels beat their wings in humble submission to His word, sounding like a chain striking a smooth stone, until, when fear is lifted from their hearts, they say, ‘What has your Lord said?’ They reply, ‘The truth, and He is the Most High, the Most Great.’” (Qur’an 34:23)

Ibn ʿAbbas, Ibn Masʿud—may Allah be pleased with them both—and the scholars said the same. ⦗41⦘

Khabbab ibn al-Aratt—may Allah be pleased with him—said:

“Draw near to Allah as much as you can, for you will never draw near to Him with anything more beloved to Him than His speech.”

Niyar ibn Makram al-Aslami—may Allah be pleased with him—said:

When the verse “Alif Lām Mīm. The Romans have been defeated” (Qur’an 30:2) was revealed, Abu Bakr came out shouting, “The speech of my Lord!”

Whenever Asmaʾ bint Abi Bakr—may Allah be pleased with her—heard the Quran, she would say, “The speech of my Lord, the speech of my Lord.”

Abu ʿAbd al-Rahman al-Sulami said:

“The superiority of the Quran over every other form of speech is like the superiority of the Lord over His creation.”

Abu Dharr—may Allah be pleased with him—said: I asked, “O Messenger of Allah, who was the first of the prophets?” He replied, “Adam.” I asked, “Was he a prophet?” He said, “Yes, one who was spoken to.”

Ibn ʿAbbas—may Allah be pleased with him—said:

“When Allah spoke to Moses, the call came from the heaven, and Allah was above the heaven.”
