Al-Humaydī narrated to us; Sufyān narrated to us; Mūsā—who was trustworthy—narrated, from Saʿīd, from Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allah be pleased with him): “Whenever revelation descended upon the Prophet, he would move his tongue along with it.” Sufyān explained that he did so in order to memorize it. Thereupon Allah the Exalted revealed, “Do not move your tongue with it to hasten it” (75:16).
