Khalq Afal al-Ibad lil-BukhariAl-Bukhari

ʿUmar ibn Marzūq narrated to us; Shuʿbah informed us, from Abū Bishr, from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allah be pleased with him) concerning the verse, “Do not raise your voice in your prayer, nor speak it in too low a tone” (al-Isrāʾ 17:110). He said, “It was revealed in Mecca. Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited the Quran aloud, the polytheists would curse the One who revealed it and the one who conveyed it. As for ‘nor speak it in too low a tone,’ it means: do not recite so softly that your companions are unable to hear and learn from you.”
