Mahmūd narrated to us; Abū Dāwūd narrated to us; Shuʿbah narrated to us—Talhah informed me, “I heard ʿAbd al-Raḥmān relate from al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ said, ‘Adorn the Quran with your voices.’” ʿAbd al-Raḥmān reported the same wording. The hadith is likewise transmitted by Suhayl, from his father, from Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet ﷺ.
