Muhammad ibn al-‘Ala’ narrated to us; Abu Usamah narrated to us, from Buraid, from Abu Burdah, from Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Prophet ﷺ said, “I can recognize the company of the Ashʿarīs by their recitation of the Quran when they arrive at night, and I can locate their dwellings in the darkness from the sound of their voices—the voices with which they recite the Quran at night—even though I have not seen where they settled in the daytime. Among them is a wise man who, whenever he meets a cavalry unit—or, he said, the enemy—says to them, ‘My companions instruct you to give them time (to wait for them).’”
