Risalah Latifah Jamiah fi Usul al-Fiqh al-MuhimmahAbd al-Rahman al-Sadi’

So whenever the Lawgiver issues an explicit ruling on a matter and attaches to it a specific attribute—or the scholars infer that He legislated it because of that attribute—and the same attribute is then found in another matter for which no direct textual ruling exists, with no relevant difference between the two, that second matter must be subsumed under the first and given the same legal judgment. This is because the Lawgiver is All-Wise: He does not differentiate between things that share identical attributes, just as He does not lump together things that are essentially different.
