The fourth: through Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn from him with the same wording. Aḥmad recorded it (2/355, 388), and its chain is likewise sound.
The fifth: through Abū Ṣāliḥ from him. Aḥmad narrated it (2/340), and al-Fākihī cited it in his Ḥadith (2/50/2) with a fair chain.
2 – As for the report of Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī, its wording is:
“One of the fly’s wings carries poison while the other carries cure. When it falls into food, submerge it completely, for it puts forth the poison and keeps back the cure.”
39 – “One of the fly’s wings carries poison while the other carries cure. When it lands in food, immerse it fully, for it presents the poison first and withholds the cure.”
Aḥmad recorded it (3/67): Yazīd told us, saying: Ibn Abī Dhīb narrated to us, from Saʿīd ibn Khālid, who said: “I entered upon Abū Salamah, and he served us clarified butter and a loaf. A fly fell into the food, and Abū Salamah began dunking it into the dish with his finger. I said, ‘Uncle, what are you doing?’ He replied, ‘Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī related to me from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ…,’ and then he mentioned the ḥadith.”
Ibn Mājah also transmitted it (3504): Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah narrated to us; Yazīd ibn Hārūn narrated to us, tracing it back to the Prophet without the accompanying story.
Al-Ṭayālisī included it in his Musnad (2188): Ibn Abī Dhīb narrated it to us, and from him it was transmitted by al-Nasāʾī (2/193), Abū Yaʿlā in his Musnad (folio 65/2), and Ibn Ḥibbān in al-Thiqāt (2/102).
I say: This isnād is sound; its transmitters are the reliable narrators of the Two Shaykhs, apart from Saʿīd ibn Khālid al-Qāriẓī, and he is trustworthy, as affirmed by al-Dhahabī and Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī.
