6 – As for the ḥadith of Abū Mūsā, it was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in al-Awsat (1/4/1 of its supplements), by Ibn ʿAdiyy (23/1), and by al-Dāraqutnī (38) through several routes all passing through Ashʿath, from al-Ḥasan, from him. Al-Ṭabarānī remarked, “It is not related from Abū Mūsā except through this chain.” Al-ʿUqaylī likewise transmitted it in al-Ḍuʿafāʾ (p. 9) via Ashʿath and commented, “No one corroborates him, and the isnāds in this chapter are weak.” Al-Dāraqutnī added, “The correct ruling is that it is mawqūf, for al-Ḥasan did not hear from Abū Mūsā.”
7 – As for the ḥadith of Anas, it was reported by Ibn ʿAdiyy (24/1), Abū al-Ḥasan al-Ḥammāmī in al-Fawāʾid al-Muntaqā (9/1/2), and al-Dāraqutnī (39) through various routes from ʿAbd al-Ḥakam on his authority. Al-Dāraqutnī observed, “ʿAbd al-Ḥakam is not dependable for legal proof.”
8 – As for the ḥadith of Samurah ibn Jundub, it was narrated by Tamām al-Rāzī in Musnad al-Muqillīn min al-Umaraʾ wa-al-Sulāṭīn (no. 3, in my copy), and from him by Ibn ʿAsākir in his Tārīkh (14/387/1): “Abū ʿAlī Muḥammad ibn Hārūn ibn Shuʿayb told us, Muḥammad ibn ʿUthmān ibn Abī Suwayd al-Baṣrī told us, Hudbah ibn Khālid told us, Hammām narrated to us from Saʿīd ibn Abī ʿArūbah, who said: I was standing by the pulpit of al-Ḥajjāj ibn Yūsuf when I heard him say, ‘Samurah ibn Jundub related to me that the Messenger of Allah — peace and blessings be upon him — said…,’ and he went on to mention the report.”
