Silsilat al-Ahadith al-SahihahNasir al-Din al-Albani

of the boy, the two palm trees, and the incident of the camel, except that he said, “then he mentioned it.”

I say: This is an authentic chain of transmission. Its narrators are trustworthy and are narrators of al-Bukhari, apart from Aswad ibn Amir, who is among those narrated by Muslim alone.

I later reconsidered and said: Rather, it is interrupted, as will follow.

Al-Hakim also transmitted it (2/617–618) through Yunus ibn Bukayr, from al-A‘mash, from al-Minhal ibn ‘Amr, from Ya‘la ibn Murrah, from his father, who said:

“I travelled with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and witnessed from him something remarkable. We stopped at a place, and he said, ‘Go to these two trees and tell them: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, commands you both to come together.’ So I went and told them this. Each of them was uprooted from its base and moved toward the other, until they came together. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, relieved himself behind them. Then he said, ‘Go and tell them that each should return to its place.’ I went to them and told them this, and each returned to its place.

“A woman then came to him and said, ‘My son has suffered from an affliction for seven years; it seizes him twice each day.’ The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, ‘Bring him close to me.’ She brought him near, and he spat in his mouth and said, ‘Come out, enemy of Allah! I am the Messenger of Allah.’ Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to her, ‘When we return, let us know what happened.’

“When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, returned, she came out to meet him carrying two rams, dried curds, and clarified butter. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to me, ‘Take this ram and make of it whatever you wish.’ She said, ‘By the One who has honored you, we have not seen anything wrong with him since we left you.’

“Then a camel came to him and stood before him. He saw its eyes shedding tears, so he sent for its owners and said, ‘What is the matter with this camel of yours, that it complains of you?’ They said, ‘We used to work it, but when it grew old and was no longer able to work, we agreed to slaughter it tomorrow.’

“The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, ‘Do not slaughter it; place it among the camels, so that it may remain with them.’”

Al-Hakim said: “Its chain of transmission is authentic.”
