“It was transmitted by al-Tabarani and Ibn Mardawayh with a weak chain of transmission.”
Ibn Jarir also transmitted, through Khalid ibn ʿArʿarah, that a man said to ʿAli, may Allah be pleased with him: “What is the Frequented House?” He replied: “It is a house in heaven called al-Durah, directly above the Kaʿbah. Its sanctity in heaven is like the sanctity of the House on earth. Every day, seventy thousand angels pray in it, and they never return to it again.”
Its narrators are trustworthy, apart from Khalid ibn ʿArʿarah, whose status is unknown. Ibn Abi Hatim said (1/2/343):
“He narrated from ʿAli, and Simak and al-Qasim ibn ʿAwf al-Shaybani narrated from him.”
He mentioned no criticism or accreditation concerning him. Ibn Hibban likewise included him in al-Thiqat (1/37).
Abu al-Tufayl also corroborated him, saying: “Ibn al-Kawwa asked ʿAli about the Frequented House ...” Ibn Jarir likewise transmitted it: Ibn Humayd narrated to us ... from Abu al-Tufayl.
Ibn Humayd was Muhammad ibn Humayd, and he was very weak.
This addition also has a mursal corroborating report narrated by Qatadah, who said:
“We were told that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to his Companions one day: ‘Do you know what the Frequented House is?’ They replied: ‘Allah and His Messenger know best.’ He said: ‘It is a mosque in heaven, beneath which lies the Kaʿbah. Were it to fall, it would fall upon it ...’”
Ibn Jarir transmitted it: Bishr narrated to us; Yazid narrated to us; Saʿid narrated to us from Qatadah.
I say: This is an authentic mursal chain. All its narrators are trustworthy and appear in both al-Bukhari and Muslim, apart from Bishr—namely, Ibn Hilal al-Sawwaf—who appears only in Muslim.
