in Tadhkirat al-Ḥuffāẓ (2/284) and Shadharāt (2/242).
Al-Bayhaqī also related it in al-Sunan al-Kubrā (9/303), by way of ʿAbd al-Majīd ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz, from Ibn Jurayj, from Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd al-Anṣārī, with this chain. Ibn al-Sakan declared it authentic, as cited in al-Talkhīṣ, no. 1983. Al-Haythamī said in al-Majmaʿ (4/58): “Abū Yaʿlā related it, and its narrators are those of the Sahih, apart from his shaykh, Isḥāq, whom I have not identified.”
I say: Abū Yaʿlā’s chain in his Musnad (3/1114, Islamic Office facsimile edition) is as follows: “Isḥāq narrated to us: ʿAbd al-Majīd ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Abī Rawwād informed us,” with this chain.
This Isḥāq, whom al-Haythamī did not identify, is Isḥāq ibn Abī Isrāʾīl, as stated in another hadith related by Abū Yaʿlā before this one. His father’s name was Ibrāhīm ibn Kāmijar; he was Abū Yaʿqūb al-Marwazī. He was among al-Bukhārī’s shaykhs in al-Adab al-Mufrad, as well as those of Abū Dāwūd and others. He was trustworthy, as Ibn Maʿīn and others stated, and he died in 240 AH.

Ibn Ḥibbān (462), al-Dāraqutnī (127), al-Ḥākim (1/223), and al-Bayhaqī (2/58) related it by way of Isḥāq ibn Ibrāhīm ibn al-ʿAlāʾ al-Zubaydī: “ʿAmr ibn al-Ḥārith narrated to us; ʿAbd Allāh ibn Sālim narrated to us, from al-Zubaydī, who said: Muḥammad ibn Muslim informed me, from Saʿīd ibn al-Musayyib and Abū Salamah, from Abū Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would ...”
