and his shaykh was named ‘Abd Allah ibn Muhayriz.
Bilal ibn Yahya al-‘Absi differed from Shu‘bah, reporting it as follows: from Abu Bakr ibn Hafs, from Ibn Muhayriz, from Ibn Muhayriz, from Thabit ibn al-Samt, from ‘Ubadah ibn al-Samit, with the same wording.
Ibn Majah (2/331) and Ahmad (5/318) narrated it through Sa‘d ibn Aws al-Katib, from Bilal ibn Yahya al-‘Absi.
The narrators in this chain are also trustworthy. However, Shu‘bah was more precise in retention and more renowned than Bilal ibn Yahya, so his narration is more sound.
Then I found the hadith in the Musnad of al-Tayalisi (no. 586):
Shu‘bah related it to us with the same chain, except that he said: “From a man among the Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him—or from several men among the Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.”
This hadith was also narrated from Abu Bakr ibn Hafs, from Ibn Muhayriz, from Ziyad ibn al-Samt, from ‘Ubadah ibn al-Samit, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
The hadith has a corroborating report from Abu Malik al-Ash‘ari, cited earlier (no. 91), with the wording: “Some people will indeed drink ...”
It has a second corroborating report from Abu Umamah, with the wording: “The nights and days will not pass away.” We mentioned it under hadith no. 90.
It has a third corroborating report from ‘A’ishah in al-Mustadrak (4/147), which was previously mentioned there.
415 — “When one of your servants prepares his food, sparing him its heat and cold, let him seat the servant with him. If he refuses, then let him give him a morsel in his hand.”
Ahmad narrated it (2/259): ‘Abd al-A‘la related to us from Ma‘mar, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Salamah, from Abu Hurayrah, attributing it to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
