He then narrated it through Muʿāwiyah ibn Salām, from his brother, from their grandfather Abū Salām, from Abū Rāshid, in abbreviated form.
Regarding the hadith, al-Mundhirī (3/29) said: “Ahmad narrated it with a sound chain of transmission.”
- “A man will indeed have intercourse with one hundred virgins in a single day—that is, in Paradise.”
Abū Nuʿaym narrated it in The Description of Paradise (169/1—Shaykh al-Islām), and al-Ḍiyāʾ in The Description of Paradise (82/2), by way of al-Ṭabarānī, through two chains of transmission belonging to him, from Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī al-Juʿfī, from Zāʾidah, from Hishām ibn Ḥassān, from Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn, from Abū Hurayrah, who said:
It was asked, “O Messenger of Allah, will we have intercourse with our wives in Paradise?” He replied with the words cited above.
Al-Ṭabarānī said: “Al-Juʿfī alone narrated it.”
Al-Maqdisī said: “I say that, in my view, its narrators meet the conditions of authenticity.”
I say: He is as he said. The chain of transmission is authentic, and we know of no hidden defect in it.
I have found a corroborating report from Ibn ʿAbbās, attributed to the Prophet, which al-Ḥarbī narrated in Rare Expressions (5/52/2).
