“He fabricates hadith.”
Tammām also recorded it in al-Fawāʾid (99/1) through Abū Rabīʿah: ʿUmar ibn al-Faḍl narrated to us, from Raqabah, from ʿAlī ibn al-Aqmar, with the same wording. Its narrators are trustworthy, but Abū Rabīʿah is in fact Fahd ibn ʿAwf himself, whose weakness you have already seen.
The third route: from Abū Rajāʾ, from someone who heard Abū Juḥayfah narrate it with the same wording. He added at its end:
“Abū Juḥayfah said: ‘I have not eaten my fill for thirty years.’”
Ibn Abī al-Dunyā recorded it (1/2).
Its chain contains the unnamed man. However, al-Mundhirī remarked, supplementing the weak route of al-Ḥākim:
“Al-Bazzār narrated it through two chains, the narrators of one of which are trustworthy.”
Al-Haythamī said (5/31):
“Al-Ṭabarānī narrated it in al-Awsaṭ and al-Kabīr through several chains. In one of the chains of al-Kabīr is Muḥammad ibn Khālid al-Kūfī, whom I do not know; the rest of its narrators are trustworthy.”
- The hadith of Ibn ʿAmr, who said:
“A man belched in the presence of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said: ‘Restrain your belching, for...’” The hadith.
Al-Haythamī said:
“Al-Ṭabarānī narrated it from his shaykh, Masʿūd ibn Muḥammad, who is weak.”
