4006 — “Indeed, you will have carpets.”
Al-Bukhārī (3631 and 5161), Muslim (6/146), Abū Dāwūd (4145), al-Nasāʾī (2/94), al-Tirmidhī (2774)—who authenticated it—and Aḥmad (3/294) all narrated it through Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir, from Jābir (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
“Do you have any carpets?”
I said, “How could we possibly have carpets?!” He then mentioned it. Jābir said:
“I would say to her—that is, to my wife—‘Put your carpets away from us.’ But she would say, ‘Did the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, not say: “Indeed, you will have carpets”?’ So I would leave her be.”
4033 — Allah, exalted is He, said: “I have prescribed five prayers for your community, and I have made a covenant with Myself: whoever observes them at their appointed times, I shall admit him into Paradise; and whoever does not observe them has no covenant with Me.”
Ibn Mājah (1403) and Ibn Naṣr, in Qiyām al-Layl (p. 113), narrated it through Baqiyyah ibn al-Walīd: Ḍubārah ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Abī al-Salīl related to us; Duwayd ibn Nāfiʿ informed me, from al-Zuhrī, who said: Saʿīd ibn al-Musayyib said: Abū Qatādah ibn Ribʿī informed him that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said... Then he mentioned it.
I say: This is a weak chain of transmission. Duwayd has been deemed trustworthy, but Ḍubārah is unknown, as stated in al-Taqrīb.
This hadith is authentic only as a saying of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and not as a sacred hadith, as reported from ʿUbādah ibn al-Ṣāmit by Mālik, Abū Dāwūd, and others. It has been documented in al-Targhīb (1/142).
