So he put the matter again to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, who said:
“Feed the water-drawing camel with it, and put it in its belly.”
Aḥmad narrated it. This Abū ʿUfair is unknown; he is listed in al-Taʿjīl.
Muḥammad ibn Ayyūb also corroborated him: a man of the Anṣār, called Muḥayyiṣah, narrated to him that he had a slave who performed cupping. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sternly forbade him from his earnings. He said, “May I not feed my own orphans with it?” He said, “No.” He said, “May I not give it in charity?” He said, “No.” So he granted him a concession to feed his water-drawing camel with it.
Aḥmad narrated it (5/436): ʿAbd al-Ṣamad narrated to us: Hishām narrated to us, from (1) Yaḥyā, from Muḥammad ibn Ayyūb, with this report.
I say: This is a weak chain of transmission. This Muḥammad is unknown. Ibn Abī Ḥātim mentioned him (3/2/197) in connection with this hadith and said:
“I asked my father about him, and he said: ‘He is unknown.’”
He further noted that Ḥudayj ibn Ṣawmā also narrated from him. On account of this narration, al-Dhahabī mentioned him in al-Mīzān and likewise said:
“Unknown.”
The first part of it has a supporting report in the hadith of Jābir:
