- From Hammām ibn Munabbih, from Abū Hurayrah.
Ibn Ḥibbān (6482) and al-Bayhaqī (7/61) narrated it through ʿAbd al-Razzāq. It is also found in al-Muṣannaf (11/190/20294).
- Abū Yūnus, from Abū Hurayrah, in a report attributed to the Prophet.
Aḥmad (2/390) narrated it through Yaḥyā ibn Isḥāq, from Ibn Lahīʿah, from him.
I say: Yaḥyā ibn Isḥāq—al-Saylaḥīnī—was among Ibn Lahīʿah’s earliest students; thus, we may be assured that Ibn Lahīʿah had not yet become confused in his narrations.
Then Aḥmad (3/33) narrated it through Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq, with his chain, from Abū al-Haytham, from Abū Saʿīd; and from Abū al-Zinād, from al-Aʿraj, from Abū Hurayrah.
It also has corroborating reports:
First: from ʿĀʾishah, who said:
Two men entered upon the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and spoke to him about something—I do not know what it was—thereby angering him. So he cursed and reviled them. When they left, I said, “No one who has received any share of goodness has received less of it than these two!” He said, “What do you mean?”
She said: I said, “You cursed and reviled them.” He said:
“Have you not known what I stipulated with my Lord? I said: O Allah, I am only human; so whichever Muslim I curse or revile, make it a purification and a reward for him.”
Muslim (8/24) narrated it.
It has another chain, narrated by Ḥammād, from Simāk, from ʿIkrimah, from her, who said:
