It also has another chain from Abu Dharr in al-Ṭabarānī’s al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ (1/23–25).
There is another corroborating report from the hadith of Jabir: Muslim narrated it through Abū al-Zubayr, from him. ʿAmr ibn Dīnār also followed him in narrating the complete version from Jabir.
Abū Nuʿaym narrated it in al-Ḥilyah (7/316) through al-Ḥusayn ibn Ismāʿīl: Isḥāq ibn Bahlūl narrated to us; Yaḥyā ibn al-Ḥusayn narrated to us, from Ibn ʿUyaynah, from ʿAmr ibn Dīnār, with it. He said:
“Singular among Sufyān’s reports from ʿAmr; we have recorded it only through al-Ḥusayn.”
I say: Al-Ḥusayn—namely, Ibn Ismāʿīl—was Abū ʿAbd Allāh, the judge al-Muḥāmilī. He was a trustworthy hadith master, and all the narrators above him are trustworthy, apart from Yaḥyā ibn al-Ḥusayn, whom I was unable to identify. And Allah knows best.
The hadith under discussion has another corroborating report, from Iyās ibn Salamah ibn al-Akwaʿ, from his father, that the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—said: … and he related it in full.
Aḥmad (4/48) and al-Ṭabarānī in al-Muʿjam al-Kabīr (7/23/6255) narrated it through ʿUmar ibn Rāshid al-Yamāmī, who said: Iyās ibn Salamah narrated it to us.
Its narrators are trustworthy, apart from ʿUmar ibn Rāshid al-Yamāmī, for he is weak.
However, he was followed by ʿAlī ibn Yazīd ibn Abī Ḥakīm al-Aslamī, who said: Iyās ibn Salamah narrated it to me.
Al-Ḥākim also narrated it as a corroborating report for the hadith of ʿIrāk, and stated that its chain of transmission was authentic!
This is questionable, however, because Ibn Abī Ḥātim mentioned this ʿAlī ibn Yazīd, recording that Dhuʾayb ibn al-ʿImāmah al-Sahmī and al-Ḥumaydī narrated from him, without recording any criticism or accreditation of him.
As for Ibn Ḥibbān, he listed him in al-Thiqāt (7/206)!
