It was reported by Muslim (1/210).
In another narration from her, she said:
“Umar was mistaken. The Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—only forbade deliberately timing prayers for sunrise and sunset.”
Abu ‘Awanah (1/382) and al-Nasa’i (1/96) also narrated it with the wording: “Umar was under a mistaken impression.”
I say: Lady ‘A’ishah—may Allah Most High be pleased with her—is referring to what is established of ‘Umar: that he would strike those who prayed the two rak‘ahs after the afternoon prayer.
See the verification of this in the preceding discussion in this Silsilah (6/1013). *
- “If you follow a funeral procession, do not sit down until it is set down [on the ground].”
It was reported by Muslim (3/57), Abu Dawud (3173), Ibn Hibban in his Sahih (3094), al-Bayhaqi (4/26)—the addition belongs to him—and Ahmad (3/37–38), through Suhayl ibn Abi Salih, from his father, from Abu Sa‘id, who said: The Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—said: ... and he mentioned it.
This is how its chain of transmission appears in all of their versions, except that Ibn Hibban said: from Suhayl ibn Abi Salih, from al-Nu‘man ibn Abi ‘Ayyash, from Abu Sa‘id ...
If this is sound, then it is another chain of transmission for Suhayl; otherwise, it is anomalous.
Al-Bayhaqi added: Suhayl said, “I saw Abu Salih not sit down until it was set down from the men’s shoulders.”
Al-Bayhaqi narrated it, as did Abu Nu‘aym in al-Mustakhraj, as stated in al-Fath.
Abu Salamah ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman also corroborated Abu Salih, reporting from Abu Sa‘id al-Khudri, attributed to the Prophet, with the wording:
