Second: Abu Ya‘la narrated in his Musnad (2047), by way of Mujalid, from al-Sha‘bi, from Jabir ibn ‘Abd Allah—within a longer hadith—that he said:
The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was asked about Khadijah, since she had died before the obligatory duties and the rulings of the Quran were prescribed. He replied:
“I saw her beside one of the rivers of Paradise, in a house made of hollow pearls, wherein there is neither clamour nor toil.”
I say: Its chain includes Mujalid—namely, Ibn Sa‘id—who is among the well-known weak narrators. Al-Haythami likewise deemed it defective on his account in al-Majma‘ (9/416), saying:
“This is among the reports of Mujalid that have been commended.”
I say: Yes; perhaps it is strengthened by the hadith under discussion, since it encompasses its general meaning, as well as by the mursal report with an authentic chain of transmission.
Note: I had previously traced this hadith in an earlier part of this Silsilah (1), under no. (1554). Yet Allah, glorified and exalted is He, has willed that I document it again here after more than fifteen years! What you see here, Allah willing, contains additional points of benefit. Allah is the One whose help is sought. *
- “Before the Hour, you will fight a people whose sandals are made of hair; they are these al-Bariz (1)—and Sufyan said on one occasion: they are the people of al-Bazar (2).”
It has been narrated on the authority of Abu Hurayrah, ‘Amr ibn Taghlib, and Abu Sa‘id al-Khudri:
