This Abū Ṣāliḥ is acceptable, as Abū Zurʿah said, as recorded in al-Jarḥ wa-al-Taʿdīl (Narrator Criticism and Accreditation) (9/392).
As for the hadith of Jābir, it has several routes and wordings, and it is narrated from him by a number of people: ...
- Zayd ibn Aslam, from him:
Aḥmad narrated it (3/292) by way of Zuhayr, from Zayd, from Jābir. It includes:
“That is the day on which Medina will expel impurity, just as the bellows expel the impurity of iron.”
- al-Ḥārith ibn Abī Yazīd, from him:

Abū Yaʿlā narrated it (2174) by way of al-Ḥajjāj ibn Abī ʿUthmān, from Abū al-Zubayr, from Jābir. It includes:
“Indeed, it is Ṭaybah; it expels the impurity of men, just as the bellows expel the impurity of iron.”
As for the other wording:
“Medina is like the bellows: it expels its impurities and purifies its good people,”
al-Bukhārī narrated it (1883 and 7209) and (7211, 7216, and 7322) by way of Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir, from Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh: that a Bedouin pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, upon accepting Islam, and the Bedouin was stricken by fever in Medina,
