3580—“No prophet is taken in death until he is shown his place in Paradise, then given the choice.”
It was narrated by al-Bukhārī (4463)—whose wording is cited here—and (4437), Muslim (7/137–138), and Aḥmad (6/89), through the route of ʿUrwah and Saʿīd ibn al-Musayyib, who reported that ʿĀʾishah said:
When the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was well, he would say: … then she mentioned it.
When death came upon him, with his head resting on my lap, he lost consciousness. Then he regained consciousness, raised his gaze towards the ceiling of the house, and said:
“O Allah, the Highest Company.”
I said, “Then he will not choose us.” I knew that this was the hadith he would relate to us while he was well. She said: His last words were:
“O Allah, the Highest Company.” *
3581—“A large, fat man will come on the Day of Resurrection, yet he will weigh no more with Allah than the wing of a mosquito.”
It was narrated by al-Bukhārī (4729)—whose wording is cited here—and through his route by al-Baghawī in Sharḥ al-Sunnah (4327), and by Muslim (8/25), through the route of Abū al-Zinād, from al-Aʿraj, from Abū Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace … then he mentioned it.
He said: “Read: ‘So on the Day of Resurrection We shall assign them no weight.’”
Al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Ḥajar said in al-Fatḥ (8/426), commenting on his words, “Read”:
“The speaker may have been the Companion, or it may be attributed to the Prophet as part of the remainder of the hadith.”
