from al-Faḍl al-Raqāshī, from Yazīd al-Raqāshī, from Anas ibn Mālik, attributed to the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—with wording similar to it, adding:
“Far removed is the one who lives to see Ramadan and is not forgiven therein; if he is not forgiven in it, then when will he be forgiven?”
Ibn Abī Shaybah recorded it in al-Muṣannaf (3/2), and al-Ṭabarānī in al-Awsaṭ (7/323/7627).
However, the hidden defect in this report lies with those above him in the chain. For this reason, al-Haythamī said (3/143):
“Al-Ṭabarānī narrated it in al-Awsaṭ, and its chain includes al-Faḍl ibn ʿĪsā al-Raqāshī, who is weak.”
I say: The same is true of his shaykh Yazīd—Yazīd ibn Abān al-Raqāshī—who was his paternal uncle, as is stated in Ibn Abī Shaybah’s chain. Al-Ḥāfiẓ said in al-Taqrīb:
“Weak.” *
3571—(The Wasilah is a rank with Allah; there is no rank above it. So ask Allah to grant me the Wasilah.)
Aḥmad recorded it (3/83): Mūsā ibn Dāwūd narrated to us, from Ibn Lahīʿah, from Mūsā ibn Wardān, who said: “I heard Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī say: The Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—said…” Then he cited it.
I say: The narrators in this chain are trustworthy, though Ibn Lahīʿah had weak retention. However, he was corroborated, which shows that he had retained it correctly. Al-Ṭabarānī said in al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ (1/89/263): “Aḥmad ibn Rushdīn narrated to us; Rūḥ ibn al-Ṣalāḥ narrated to us; Saʿīd ibn Ayyūb narrated to us, from ʿUmārah ibn Ghaziyyah, through the same route.”
This is a strong corroborating report, but the chain leading to it is weak.
