The second route is through Sayyar Abu al-Hakam, from Abu Wa’il, from him.
It was recorded by Ibn Khuzaymah and Ahmad (1/374).
The third is through al-Mughirah, from Abu Wa’il, from him.
It was recorded by Ibn Hibban (1/235/251) and also by Ahmad, who paired him with Sayyar.
The fourth is through ‘Asim, from Shaqiq, from him.
It was recorded by al-Tabarani in al-Mu‘jam al-Kabir (10/231/10410). The wording of the report attributed to the Companion is:
‘Abdullah said: “There is another matter which I did not hear from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, but I hope it is true: No servant dies without associating any rival with Allah except that Allah will admit him into Paradise.”
Its chain of transmission is good.
He then recorded (10416), through another route from ‘Asim, from him, only the report attributed to the Prophet.
It also has another route from Ibn Mas‘ud, transmitted by Abu Bahr al-Bakrawi, from Shu‘bah, from Abu Ishaq, from Abu al-Ahwas, from him, containing both the report attributed to the Prophet and that attributed to the Companion.
It was recorded by Abu Nu‘aym in al-Hilyah (4/348), who said:
“It was narrated exclusively by ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn ‘Uthman al-Bakrawi from Shu‘bah.”
I say: This al-Bakrawi is weak. What is preserved from Shu‘bah is the first narration from al-A‘mash. Reference to his narration from him will follow shortly in Ibn Khuzaymah’s forthcoming remarks, if Allah Most High wills.
Note: Be aware that some narrator-scholars made a grave error in this hadith, as did one of the later hadith masters in a similar case.
