with a continuous chain to the Prophet; ascetics do not preserve hadiths as they should, though I hope there is no harm in him.”
I say: I fear that he may have erred in mentioning the phrase concerning protection in the hadith, confusing one hadith with another. For it is well known and authentically established in hadiths: “Whoever performs the dawn prayer is under Allah’s protection ...” and so on. Its documentation has preceded under no. 2890.
Maymun himself did not mention it in a narration transmitted from him. Humayd said: Maymun ibn Siyah asked Anas ibn Malik:
“O Abu Hamzah, what renders a person’s life and property inviolable?” He replied:
“Whoever testifies that there is no god worthy of worship but Allah, faces our qiblah, performs our prayer, and eats from our slaughtered animals is a Muslim: he has the rights of a Muslim and bears the duties of a Muslim.”
Al-Bukhari recorded it (393).
Perhaps Imam al-Nasa’i alluded to the concern I have mentioned by omitting the phrase in question.
And Allah knows best. *
3566—“Whoever dies associating anything with Allah shall enter the Hellfire.”
It is narrated from Ibn Mas‘ud through Shaqiq Abu Wa’il, with several routes from him. The first is through al-A‘mash, who said: Shaqiq narrated it to us, adding:
“And I—that is, Ibn Mas‘ud—said: ‘Whoever dies associating nothing with Allah shall enter Paradise.’”
It was recorded by al-Bukhari (1238, 4497, and 6683), Muslim (1/65), al-Nasa’i in al-Sunan al-Kubra (6/294/11011), Ibn Khuzaymah in al-Tawhid (p. 233), and Ahmad (1/462 and 464), through various routes from al-A‘mash, from him.
