Nu'aym ibn Abi Hind also narrated it from Rib'i ibn Hirash in similar terms. It was recorded by Muslim and al-Muhamili (312).
Abu Malik al-Ashja'i likewise narrated it from Rib'i in similar terms, adding:
“If any one of you encounters him, let him go to the river that he sees as fire, close his eyes, then lower his head and drink from it, for it is cold water. The Dajjal is blind in one eye, which is covered by a thick membrane; between his eyes is written: ‘disbeliever,’ which every believer will read, whether literate or illiterate.”
It was recorded by Muslim and Ibn Abi Shaybah (19318).
Mansur also narrated it from Rib'i in similar terms as a report attributed to the Companion, containing the additional wording:
Abu Mas'ud al-Badri said: “This is how I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say.”
It was recorded by Abu Dawud (4315). *
- “Indeed, Allah made Mecca sacred; it was not people who made it sacred. Therefore, it is not lawful for anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day to shed blood therein or cut down a tree therein. If anyone seeks to justify fighting there on account of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, having fought there, then say: ‘Allah permitted it to His Messenger, but He did not permit it to you. He permitted it to me only for an hour of one day; then its sanctity returned today as it was yesterday.’ Let those who are present convey it to those who are absent.”
It was recorded by al-Bukhari (104, 1832, and 4295), Muslim (4/110), al-Tirmidhi (809), al-Nasa'i (2/32), al-Bayhaqi (7/60 and 9/212), and Ahmad (4/31 and 6/385). Al-Tirmidhi said: “A good, authentic hadith.” *
