and Abu Nu‘aym in The Description of Paradise (234/402), The Ḥilyah (9/30), and Reports of Isfahan (2/306); and al-Bayhaqi in The Resurrection (168/296).
Note: In al-Jāmiʿ, al-Suyuti also attributed the hadith of Anas to Muslim. This appears to be an error, for al-Mizzi did not attribute it to him in Tuḥfat al-Ashrāf. *
3537—“Among my ummah are twelve hypocrites who will neither enter Paradise nor smell its fragrance, until a camel passes through the eye of a needle. Eight of them will be destroyed by a fatal abscess—a lamp of fire that appears in their shoulders and then protrudes from their chests.”
It was reported by Muslim (8/123), Ahmad (4/320), al-Bayhaqi in The Proofs of Prophethood (5/262), and al-Baghawi in his exegesis (4/69), through Shu‘bah, from Qatadah, from Abu Nadrah, from Qays ibn ‘Ubad, who said:
“We said to ‘Ammar, ‘Was your fighting based on an opinion you held—for an opinion may be right or wrong—or on a covenant that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, made with you?’ He replied:
‘The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, did not charge us with anything that he did not charge all people with.’ He then said: ‘Indeed, the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said …’ and he mentioned the hadith. *
3538—“Among Thaqif will be a liar and a destroyer.”
It is reported from Asma’ bint Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar, and Salamah bint al-Hurr al-Ju‘fiyyah.
- As for the hadith of Asma’, it was reported by Muslim (7/190–191), al-Hakim in al-Mustadrak (3/553), Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi in al-Musnad (1641), and Abu Nu‘aym in
