“People do not raise anything but Allah brings it down.”
I say: This is a weak mursal report.
- “My Reservoir extends farther than the distance from Aylah to Aden. By Him in whose hand my soul is, its vessels are more numerous than the stars; it is whiter than milk and sweeter than honey. By Him in whose hand my soul is, I shall drive men away from it just as a man drives unfamiliar camels away from his watering-place.”
It was said, “Messenger of Allah, will you recognize us?” He said:
“Yes. You will come to me with radiant faces and limbs marked white from the effects of minor ablution—a distinction belonging to none but you.”
It was reported by Muslim (1/150) and Ibn Majah (4302), through Rib‘i, from Hudhayfah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: … and he mentioned it. The wording is that of Ibn Majah. Muslim does not include the passage from “the stars” to “honey.”
However, it occurs in his collection (7/69) in the hadith of Abu Dharr, as it also does in Ibn Abi ‘Asim and others. It is referenced in Zilal al-Jannah, no. 721. Muslim and others also narrated the hadith from Abu Hurayrah, with additions and omissions; its documentation will follow under no. 3952.
- “David the Prophet, peace be upon him, would eat only from the work of his own hands.”
It was reported by al-Bukhari (2073 and 3417) and Ibn Hibban (6194), both through ‘Abd al-Razzaq: Ma‘mar informed us, from Hammam, with this report.
