the entranceway of Paradise and look at its people!” So Allah will bring him nearer to it, and he will see the people of Paradise and all that is in it. He will say, “My Lord, admit me into Paradise!” He said: Allah will then admit him into Paradise. When he enters Paradise, he will say, “Is this for me?!” Allah will say to him, “Wish!” So he will wish, and Allah will remind him: “Ask for such-and-such and such-and-such,” until his wishes are exhausted. Then Allah, Mighty and Exalted, will say: “It is yours, and ten times the like of it.”

He said: Then he will enter Paradise, and his two wives from among the fair-eyed maidens of Paradise will come in to him. They will say to him, “Praise be to Allah, who gave you life for us and gave us life for you!” He will say, “No one has been given the like of what I have been given!”

He said: The least severely punished of the inhabitants of the Fire will be shod with two sandals of fire, from the heat of which his brain will boil.”

Recorded by Muslim (1/120 and 135), Abu Awanah (1/163), and Ahmad (3/27)—the wording is Ahmad’s—all through al-Numan ibn Abi Ayyash, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: … and he mentioned it.

It also has another, abbreviated chain with Ibn Hibban, no. (7335).

It has a corroborating report from the hadith of Ibn Mas'ud, cited earlier under no. (3129). *

3504 — “When the Ash'aris run out of provisions during a campaign, or their families’ food in Medina becomes scarce, they gather whatever they have in a single garment, then divide it equally among themselves in a single vessel. They are of me, and I am of them.”
