I say: It is mursal, and its narrators are trustworthy.
316 — “He would conclude with a single taslim.”
Al-Tabarani reported it in al-Muʿjam al-Awsat (1/42/2—Zawaʾid al-Muʿjamayn): Muʿadh narrated to us; Abd Allah ibn Abd al-Wahhab narrated to us; Abd al-Wahhab ibn Abd al-Majid al-Thaqafi narrated to us, from Humayd, from Anas, attributing it to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
He said: “No one narrated it from Humayd as a report from the Prophet except Abd al-Wahhab.”
I say: He was trustworthy, and both Shaykhs relied upon him. Al-Hafiz said in al-Taqrib: “Trustworthy; he suffered deterioration three years before his death.”
I say: However, al-Dhahabi said: “I say: Yet his deterioration did not affect his hadith, for he did not narrate any hadith during the period of his deterioration.”
Al-Bayhaqi also reported the hadith in al-Sunan (2/179), by way of Abu Bakr ibn Ishaq, who said: Abu al-Muthanna informed us; Abd Allah ibn Abd al-Wahhab al-Hajabi narrated to us, with the same chain.
Al-Zaylaʿi attributed it in Nasb al-Rayah (1/433–434) to al-Bayhaqi’s al-Maʿrifah, without commenting on it. Al-Hafiz said in al-Dirayah (p. 90): “Its narrators are trustworthy.”
Al-Haythami cited it in Majmaʿ al-Zawaʾid (2/134–146) with the wording: “The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, Abu Bakr, and Umar, may Allah be pleased with them, would begin the recitation with ‘Praise be to Allah, Lord of all worlds,’ and would conclude with a single taslim.” I said in al-Sahih: “Part of it was reported by al-Bazzar”
